Rare T206 Plank and ‘Magie’ Error Cards Make Waves in PWCC December Premier Auction

In the realm of sports memorabilia, few items generate as much buzz and anticipation as rare baseball cards. The PWCC December Premier Auction is no exception, featuring two of the most sought-after cards from the T206 set, known as the Big Four. These cards have caught the attention of collectors worldwide, making this auction a must-watch event.

One of the standout items in this auction is an SGC 1 graded T206 Eddie Plank card. It’s worth noting that only 39 cards from this set have received a grade from SGC, with an additional 21 graded by PSA. Despite its signs of age and wear, including paper loss, creasing, and corner and edge damage, the Plank card remains a highly valuable and rare piece. Its appearance at auction is significant, as it marks the fourth time this year that a Plank card has been available for purchase. Previous sales include an SGC 1 Plank card that sold for $75,000 in February and a PSA 2.5 variant that commanded an impressive $168,000 in August.

Accompanying the Plank card is the PSA 2 graded Sherry “Magie” error card. This card, featuring a misspelling of Sherry Magee’s last name, is considered one of the most esteemed rarities in the T206 set. It shares the spotlight with the renowned T206 Honus Wagner and the “NY Nat’l” Joe Doyle cards.

In addition to these historic items, the auction also boasts an exquisite collection of Michael Jordan cards, paying tribute to the enduring legacy and popularity of the basketball legend. Highlights from the Jordan collection include the 1997 Metal Universe Championship Precious Metals (#/50) graded BGS 9, the 1998 Skybox Premium Star Rookies (#/50) graded PSA 8, the 1997 Skybox E-X 2001 Essential Credentials Future (#/72) graded PSA 9, and the 1984-85 Star Company XRC in both PSA 8 and BGS 9 grades. These cards truly showcase the immense appeal and value of Michael Jordan’s memorabilia.

Not to be overlooked, the auction also features modern hockey treasures. Among them are the 2015-16 Upper Deck The Cup Gold Foil Connor McDavid RPA (#/12) and the 2005 Upper Deck The Cup Sidney Crosby RPA (#/99), both graded BGS 8. These items offer hockey enthusiasts the chance to acquire highly-prized and limited-edition pieces.

The PWCC December Premier Auction is currently underway and will continue accepting bids until December 21st. This presents collectors with a rare opportunity to own a piece of sports history and to add these highly coveted items to their collections. Whether it’s the rare T206 Plank and ‘Magie’ Error cards or the iconic Michael Jordan and hockey memorabilia items, this auction has something for every sports enthusiast and collector. So, don’t miss out on the chance to snag these priceless treasures before the bidding ends.
