SCP’s Spring Premier Auction Features George Mikan Suit and Vintage Cards

SCP Auctions is rolling out its Spring Premier catalog, a treasure trove for sports memorabilia enthusiasts. At the center stage of this auction is the remarkable George Mikan Minneapolis Lakers warm-up suit, signed by the basketball maestro himself. Diving into NBA history, this one-of-a-kind ensemble, comprising a jacket and pants autographed by Mikan, carries an LOA from Sports Investors Authentication and is poised to command bids soaring over $400,000.

The allure of Mikan’s memorabilia, especially pieces from his playing days, is irresistible to collectors. Moreover, the auction boasts a plethora of prime vintage baseball cards, with standout items like a PSA 7 Mickey Mantle 1951 Bowman rookie card, dual 1952 Topps Mantles, a 1963 Topps Mantle graded SGC 9, and a scarce 1933 Goudey #92 Lou Gehrig also graded SGC 9, with the Gehrig card expected to fetch upwards of $150,000.

Enthusiasts of Pete Rose memorabilia will be thrilled to find the second-highest ranked master set of his cards, a follow-up to SCP’s previous sale of the top-ranked set in the last autumn auction. The spotlight also shines on significant Shohei Ohtani cards and memorabilia, including the jersey worn on Jackie Robinson Day in 2023, projected to draw substantial six-figure bids, alongside Ohtani’s milestone 200th career home run ball.

Adding to the excitement are two pairs of game-worn Michael Jordan shoes, a Roberto Clemente cap, a Ronald Acuna Jr. jersey authenticated through photo-matching, and a signed Tua Tagovailoa jersey from 2023. The auction showcases luxurious jewelry items such as a 1957 Mickey Mantle AL MVP award, Olympic gold medals awarded to Jim Hines and Oleksandr Abramenko, a 2003 Florida Marlins World Series ring, and a 2016 Cleveland Cavaliers NBA championship ring.

Noteworthy lots in the auction include game-worn and autographed shoes from the legendary Kobe Bryant, a 1957 Mickey Mantle AL MVP trophy, a game-used bat from Ted Williams, a 2023 Bowman Chrome Draft Tom Brady Orange Refractor autograph, a 1948 Leaf Jackie Robinson rookie card, a baseball adorned with signatures of early Hall of Fame inductees and Yankee icons, and an array of historical sports memorabilia dating back to the early 20th century.

With an extensive lineup of over 400 lots, the auction kicks off on Wednesday and runs until Saturday, April 13. Bidders can partake in the excitement by visiting SCPAuctions.com and exploring the exclusive collection of sports memorabilia gems up for grabs.
